Treasurer – Town of Nantucket

The Town of Nantucket, Massachusetts has an immediate opening for the position of Treasurer.  Salary is commensurate with experience, residency required.  The Town of Nantucket is an island of pristine beauty 14 miles long and 3.5 miles wide, 30 miles out to sea, off the south coast of Cape Cod.

The Treasurer collaborates with the Finance Director to maintain custody of all Town and County funds, depositing, investing and disbursing of all municipal funds; the direction and coordination activities of the Treasury office and functions, including but not limited to account reconciliation, special funds maintenance, overseeing payroll, maintaining all tax title possessions and accounts, maintaining compliance with statutory requirements, interacting with taxpayers and providing general advice regarding compliance with MA General Laws, and federal laws, and local rules and regulations.

The successful candidate must have a bachelor’s degree in business or related field and/or three (3) years equivalent experience in finance, treasury or municipal tax functions, a driver’s license, and preferred supervisory experience. Familiarity with MUNIS, municipal software preferred. Proficiency in business mathematical skills, record keeping basic accounts payable/receivable, and customer service skills required. MCTA Treasurer certification is a minimum essential certification for this position. The successful candidate will have one (1) year to obtain certification if not already achieved at date of hire. The Treasurer is a bonded position and must maintain bond during employment. EOE.
