Deputy Director of Public Works – Town of Nantucket
The Town of Nantucket, Massachusetts has an immediate opening for the position of Deputy Director of Public Works. Salary is commensurate with experience, residency required. The Town of Nantucket is an island of pristine beauty 14 miles long and 3.5 miles wide, 30 miles out to sea, off the south coast of Cape Cod.
The Deputy DPW Director collaborates with the Director to administer, coordinate, review, and evaluate day to day operations and long-term projects of the public works function. The Deputy Director provides administrative management support to the Director and oversight of all operational divisions including highway, stormwater, cemeteries, facilities, public shade trees, fleet maintenance, engineering, and parks in accordance with local Bylaws and MA General Laws.
The successful candidate must have a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, business, public administration, environmental management or a related field; minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in a position requiring management/supervisory responsibility within public works. The candidate must have a valid Class D Motor Vehicle Operator’s License. Massachusetts registration as a Professional Engineer preferred. EOE.
